Worth a thousand words

The MIL is currently not speaking to us because, when showing her pictures of my BFFs new baby, she saw a photo of my daughter in a pose similar to this*:

* Note: a stock image has been used

This is apparently horrible, ugly, rude, and we should teach our child better. She blames TV, and the kinds of people we let our child be around.

Clearly we have failed as parents and will be putting our kid up for adoption soon as possible.

I should have known...

Remember that lovely Christmas I mentioned? Ya, it all went to out the window...

In a haze of that-was-really-nice-wasn't-it-maybe-things-are-getting-better we agreed to go over on NYD for crepes.

After all these years I should know better - but apparently I don't because I drank a lot before I went.

Lots of tea & water + my small bladder = 3 trips of the washroom

On the third I opened the door to find my MIL standing right in the front of the door waiting to ask 'Is your bladder no good?'

Argh.

Reasons I love My Mother-in-Law - Part Ten

Stop me if you have heard this one.

Disclaimer - there is a hint of my religious (or lack there of) views coming up. Take it as part of the story not a judgment of any kind.

At 6 months pregnant, the In-laws took the Hubz and I out for dinner. After the fun of discussing what they would prefer we name the baby, my MIL asked where we wanted to have the baby christened.

After an awkward pause the Hubz reply that we had no plans to christen or baptize the baby.

To this she replied 'That's fine, we will just take her.'

I think there is a Simpson's episode about the very same situation.

Reasons I love my Mother-in-Law - Part Four

My MIL has an (let's call it) interesting way of identifying people.

For example, if she were describing me to one of her friends she would likely say 'the Irish girl my son married'. I was not actually born in Ireland and my mother's family is Scottish but you get the point.

Our cleaning lady is 'the Russian women that cleans for us', her neighbour is 'that lovely Polish woman' and so on and so on (I am leaving out the more offensive ones but you can imagine where this might go).

She seems to qualify everyone she meets/interacts with by their race. And not really in a good way. I don't like to use the 'R' word but she is pretty close to the wrong side of the line.

And if you were wondering is this also one of the reasons she is not allowed to be alone in a room with the kid.
